YIN YANG - FOUR TYPES OF PEOPLE
1. Dominant (fixed yang)
These folk are very determined and love to give orders and lead if possible. They are often very good indeed at what they do and have great concentration and attention to detail.
Their weakness is that they have a very narrow field of awareness and only see what they want to see. In addition, they are extremely stubborn. and will not give up even when their cause is hopeless.
You can tell dominant types because they always give orders. They seldom praise and are generally disparaging. People mistakenly think this a mark of sincerity. but usually it is just a ploy to gain control.
2. Sociable (mutual yang)
They
are clever and quick-witted; they can turn on a sixpence or hold a
course as is required. Sociable people are fun and are often much loved.
They are great dimplomats and have bottomless energy for debate. They
are quick-tempered but easily cool down. Dominant types often set the
rules, but it is the sociables who make them work.
You can tell sociables because they are surrounded by people at all times.
3. Compliant (passive yin)
Compliant people do what is expected of them without too much fuss. They are good workers but need to be kept motivated, or they may stagnate. They love their homes, families, and friends and are dependent on the support of a community. They contribute much and expect little.
You can tell compliant people because they do exactly what is expected of them.
4. Independent (active yin)
These people are responsible for all true innovation and invention. They are quite as intellectually powerful as dominants, but their thinking is both broader and more profound. Independents do not fit into society well. The other types all adhere to the status quo and admire the dominant personality. Independents do not respect the dominant, whom they consider (often rightly) to be leaders on the path to hell. Independents like sociables a lot but are worried by their love of expedience over ideals.
Independents are idealists and cannot understand why everyone else is not. They try to do the honorable thing but find themselves robbed or persecuted for it. This may cause them to become lonely and bitter.
Independents appear much stronger than they are, as they have a soft yin core with a strong yang outer personality. They must always be on guard, as the other types easily join against them.
You can tell independents easily, as they spend a lot of time alone if they can and are always coming up with schemes and ideas.
note: this is not traditional teaching, but the product of personal observation
