SHOULD WE ASK THE I CHING ABOUT 'MUNDANE MATTERS'?

What kind of questions should we ask the I Ching?

It is said we should only consult I Ching on important matters. Yet it is impossible to say whether something is important until after it has occurred. On a trip to the shops, you might meet someone who changes your life or have an accident that ends it. Some seemingly important events may turn out to be nothing special.

When and what to ask the I Ching is a matter you must decide for yourself. My recommendation is to always ask about events that are likely to be important and only about minor matters when you feel like it.

It is sometimes said that the I Ching does not give practical answers, and one should not ask about mundane matters. This is a matter of choice. My choice and belief is that living life correctly from both the mundane and the sublime perspective is vital for holistic consciousness development. You cannot live a messy, mundane existence and develop spiritually. The I Ching is supposed to help you do this. Unfortunately, the traditional text that survives is not complete, so using the I Ching for daily living is not really practical.

My life's work has been to correct this and bring all I Ching oracles up to the standard of accuracy shown in only a limited number at present.

We usually predict the future by examining the past, and I am reasonably sure this was how the I Ching came into existence. The tribes consulted random oracles and then observed the results. If, after receiving a certain pattern, the hunt was successful, they noted this and waited to see if, when the same oracle came up again, the result was the same. They did this for a very long time before the I Ching we know was written.

This is exactly what I am doing. I make a prediction, write the result, and compare it to previous times I have had the same hexagram and line. With your help, I can make a 'Great I Ching Database'. So, please get in touch, and I will show you how to turn the dreams of the ancients into modern reality!
